The Opening Show in the Arena was today.

Several guests were there including Miss America, Def Sec Robert Gates, WWE star Sargent Pain(I think that was his name.  The Air Force Precision Honor Guard.  A parachuting display by the Army's Golden Knights, along with many others including a special video from Eagle Scout Mike Rowe from Dirtiest Jobs.

It was hot in the sun, but the show was cool!

Camp gateways.  This is a Nevada troop.

The Scouts have arrived and we are in full swing.
The Hill is packed from one end to the other with youth and scouters.
686 attended our event today and we expect more tomorrow.

Wednesday is the Arena kickoff show starting at 10:30 in the morning.  Defense Sec. Robert Gates former NESA president will speak along with Miss America.
Every U.S. president for the past 40 years has managed to attend Jamboree if only for a few minutes.
But we are not high on this one's agenda.(break my heart)

The Show is going to be spectacular with the Army's Golden Knight parachute team dropping in and of course a fighter jet fly over.
And that is just the starter, the real big show is Saturday night.

The Jamboree Arena

Just less that 12 hours until the youth start arriving!

Saturday I met Charles Dalquist, past General YM President.  He is serving as the Chief Chaplain for the Jamboree and organizes all the Chaplain groups serving throughout the Jamboree.  There are over one hundred and fifty chaplains.

Sacrament meeting today was held just 150 feet from where the fatal accident of 2005 happened.

Brother Larry Call whose son saved him by knocking him away from the pole gave his testimony today of the Lord's hand in our lives.

(Ask me about that story sometime.)

The first speaker was the National Venture Crew President, 19 yr old Jennifer Lowe.

Totally cool that the National President is an LDS Young Woman!

She spoke on the example of priesthood in here home.

She is part of my subcamp group and I spent some time talking to her afterwards.  She attends BYU and at the encouragement of her father who has been the YM President in her stake for 7 yrs she started a Venturing Crew with her friends (Venturing is 16-19 and co-ed)  and now youth from all over her city actively participate in her crew.(and more than a few have taken the example of how to have a great Venturing program back to their home wards)  She is a great example of the power of scouting and a motivated young person.

Well the bikes are assembled and the guns have been sited in!

We are ready for tomorrow!

Anywhere from 900 to 1200 youth are expected to go through my event on a daily basis!
